Cherwell Boat house
THE CHERWELL BOATHOUSE IS SITUATED IN THE HEART OF OXFORD ON THE PICTURESQUE BANKS OF THE RIVER CHERWELL.
It combines a punt station with plenty of outdoor space and a beautiful terrace from where to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Long renowned as a place to enjoy lazy hours on the river with one of our traditional hand crafted boats. Just a short Punt to the Victoria Arms public house, for a quick pit stop, before returning to the punt station.
We are popular with locals, students and tourists, who find the area an
ideal place to spend a summers day punting.
Oxford City
Oxford, the oldest University City in The U.K. is packed with wonderful Colleges, Museums and sights.
We are within walking distance of The University Parks and in the Cherwell Valley. The pub is situated on land owned by The Oxford Preservation Trust and is therefore surrounded by unspolit countryside. Old Marston itself was pivotal during The English Civil War, with Lord Fairfax residing in the village at the headquarters of the Parliamentarian army that lay seige to Oxford. The surrender, or liberation if you prefer, of Oxford was signed at a house in Mill Lane, now known as Cromwell House.
For those interested in ancient churches, a visit to Old Marston's Parish church would be ideal. Founded in 1122, it has been the centre of the village for nearly 900 years and has a flourishing congregation and bell ringing team.
No more than 5 miles away is Otmoor, a large area of unspoilt marshland and reedbeds which is an RSPB sanctuary, ideal for keen ornithologists or just walking.
